Today the power transformer industry is facing a new challenge with bushing deliveries now a critical path item for power transformer manufacturers. Rising demand due to increasing electrification worldwide coupled with supply chain challenges has led to a transformer shortage and significantly higher prices. A recent key challenge for transformer manufacturers now includes long deliveries for RIP and RIS type bushings which are now being quoted at 85+ weeks. This is particularly noteworthy for customers that are specifying resin impregnated insulation bushings for their transformers and want to stay with the safety and maintenance benefits offered by these dry type technologies. The RHM International RIF® resin impregnated fibreglass bushing offers a high quality, proven alternative to the RIP and RIS bushings with the best lead times in the industry. The RIF® bushing technology was developed over 20+ years ago and is the forerunner to the RIS technology. To date over 24,000 RIF® bushings have been installed worldwide in all types of operating environments.
RHM International’s production processes are the key to consistent production flows and meeting promised lead times. No costly moulds and time-consuming vacuum impregnation processes are used. Our technology uses a semi-automated wrapping process that wraps resin impregnated fibreglass threads around conductive foils and automated curing and machining processes to produce the paperless condenser core. Typical lead times being quoted for the various RIF® bushing voltage ratings are:
| Nominal Voltage | Lead Times (Weeks)3 Units |
Lead Times (Weeks)4-12 Units |
| (kV RMS) (L-L) | Ex-Works | Ex-Works |
| 500 | 19 | 21 |
| 300 - 115 | 17 | 19 |
| 15 – 72.5 | 14 | 16 |
